#frocktober2014 day 6 and the big party.

So day six has now been and gone, and with it my much anticipated fortieth birthday. It was everything I had hoped for and more, and I was very fortunate to have celebrated with a wonderful bunch of people. I would also like to take this opportunity to say that you will never again hear me so much as mention my birthday again. Forty was the one I was waiting for, the one I was looking forward to, and after this it’s all pretty much just blah. I have also never before made such a fuss over my own birthday, and I actually think that in the last ten or fifteen years just about every birthday apart from my thirtieth has been spent with just my husband and kids. All the “look at me it’s my birthday!!!” is not like me at all, but after a very rough year, having people outside my hubby and kids tell me that they love me and are blessed to have me in their lives was something I guess I needed to hear. I really am grateful for the beautiful and loving people who I’m fortunate to have in my life.

And speaking of attention and fuss I wanted to get something off my chest in relation to #frocktober. I’m just one week in and already thoroughly sick of all the full length photos of myself that I’ve uploaded both here and to Instagram. I decided when I signed up for #frocktober that I would get right into it, and put myself out there in a way that makes me slightly uncomfortable, all in the name of raising much needed funds. Believe me when I say that I am not doing it for likes, follows, or flattering comments. I am doing it to raise money, so I ask you all once more, please, if it’s at all possible, make a donation. Sponsor me so I don’t feel like such a dickhead with all this posing. 😉

And on that note, here is my day six frock. I went all out because it was my actual birthday-day. The dress is from Sheike, shoes by Kardashian Kollection, accessories by Lovisa, and Mac Russian Red lippie once again.

School holidays are over and we’re now in the home stretch of this school year. I gotta say Mr Almost Six was happy to play couch potato for his two week break, and despite my guilt that we didn’t do much of anything except plan parties and clean up after them, he was more than content to just chill. I guess he was busy becoming a Pokemon master by way of Nintendo.

And that’s that for today. I’ll be back with another frock tomorrow, and stay tuned because it’s a good one!

  1. Sooo fancy and also a bit rock and roll in that one.
We all need a day for us now and then and planning yourself & getting it just right for the big birthday is the way to do it! I had a surprise party thrown for me at a friend’s several years ago and I’d never been more uncomfortable.

    1. A bit rock n roll, you think? Thank you for that! Yeah, surprise parties are funny, you either love the idea or absolutely hate it. I’m not sure how I would feel, and I don’t think I’ll ever find out!
