Rumpus makeover

The rumpus room is the heart of our home, it’s where we all squish onto one large sofa, spread out on beanbags and rugs, and where my husband’s dream home theatre is all set up. It was also one of the rooms most in need of a makeover, with it’s tired and outdated chocolate brown everything colour scheme and faded rug. It had seen many changes in furniture and throw cushions but the time had come for a complete overhaul.

The new timber floors set the scene with their pale creamy tones, and while trying to update yet keep it as timeless as we could, ultimately went with a super deep and plush dark grey sofa, which is the largest piece in the room. White cabinetry and pale barely-blush S fold curtains teamed with a soft new rug in shades of silver and duck egg blue tied it all together and along with a few small decor touches, our boring old brown rumpus room is all shiny and new again.

For now all that’s left is a fresh coat of paint, crisp white to everything except the feature wall behind the TV which will be revamped in a dark gunmetal grey.

As soon as my hot painter {a.k.a. my husband} gets a spare minute.
